Giovanni Carosso, PhD

I'm Gio, a bioengineer and founding biotech operator in San Francisco. I build molecular tools for epigenetic medicine and the discovery engines behind them, as well as software tools to navigate where biotech meets capital.

I grew up outside Washington, DC in Great Falls, Virginia. That westward calling brought me to UC Santa Barbara, where I delved into neurobiology and spearfishing before looping east to Johns Hopkins for my PhD in Human Genetics. There I specialized in epigenetics — sort of the runtime config layer atop our genomic base model.

Boot with the wrong flags and the process hangs, a cell can't execute; flip those flags and the same checkpoint takes traffic. This is the power of epigenome editing, and I landed in San Francisco just in time to join the pioneers mobilizing it for life-changing therapeutics.
